Requirements for Proposals:

  1. A single 8.5" x 11" page, containing a statement of intent, totaling no more than 200 words that should clearly state the central theses of the studio and describe how the travel will relate to the students’ design work. No identification of the applicant or institution is to appear on this page.

  2. A single 8.5" x 11" page containing an expanded statement of goals for the trip and subsequent design studio including a description of the use of funds for the students’ educational benefit. Applicants should:

    1. explain the relevance of their subject to the discourse of architectural pedagogy and thinking,
    2. clearly state pedagogical goals as they relate the travel to the studio work,
    3. describe the procedures and methods to be used in the studio design research, and
    4. clearly describe the proposed outcomes to be produced in the studio.
     
  3. A single 8.5" x 11" page describing the background and of the faculty applicant and the applicant’s aspirations for this studio.

  4. A letter of support from the department head or chair of the school. Multiple applications from a single school are acceptable.

  5. A completed Grant Application Form.

These can be submitted in PDF form to snastasia@architects.org or hard copy to Rotch Travelling Studio, c/o Boston Society of Architects, 52 Broad Street, Boston MA 02109.

Proposals are due no later than 4:00 pm, Friday, October 23, 2009.
